Adultery And Fornication by TemmyT002(m): 7:56am On Jun 30, 2019
Bible Text (Adultery and Fornication): 1 Corinthians 6:16

Adultery is defined as the breaking of marriage promise or vow by having sexual relations with someone other than your wife or husband.

Fornication is having sexual relations with someone you are not married to.

Both of these vices are part of actions that God warned against in the bible. As a matter of fact, “Do not commit adultery,’ is one of the Ten Commandments – Exodus 20:14

Jesus further made mention of it in Matthew 5:27-30

You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

There is a reason why God has warned against both adultery and fornication and this is because of the negative consequences.

NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES OF FORNICATION AND ADULTERY

Actions have reactions and consequences. Adultery and fornication may be interesting and ‘sweet’ during the act but one fact is that it rarely ends well. There is always something negative as a consequence.

All you have to do to believe this is to just examine all adultery and fornication cases that have become public and you will understand. Let’s examine some of these consequences.

(1) PUNISHMENT FROM GOD

It doesn’t matter if you are an atheist or not. You get punished for either fornicating or committing adultery. Why? Because the commandment has already mentioned not committing adultery.

Consider the story of King David. He committed adultery with a beautiful woman, had her husband killed and then took her into his house. God definitely wasn’t happy with that and David paid for that.

(2) CAREER DESTROYER

This is self-explanatory. All you have to do is consider famous people who have been accused of rape or other sexual misdemeanors. No one knows if the accused is guilty or if the accuser is just making things up. One fact is that the accused wouldn’t have been accused if he or she had not been involved in adultery or fornication in the first place.

A lot of careers have been destroyed as a result of adultery and fornication. A lot of careers are also on the line. The world is a terrible place full of hypocrites and people whose joy is to tear people apart. Those who are accused will surely be torn apart by these wolves.

Imagine building a career for years and then having it all destroyed as a result of fornication and adultery.

(3) COMMUNICABLE DISEASES

Adulterers and fornicators are at risk of contracting communicable diseases like HIV/AIDs, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and so on. An adulterer can get the disease from a lover and unwittingly pass it on to his or her spouse or even children.
