They went through a rigorous 6 years training. 5 years in University and 1 compulsory year internship in a recognized Government owned Teaching Hospital.

after university education
medical laboratory scientist and inducted and given a provisional license for internship by MLSCN

after internship a medical laboratory scientist is given a permanent license by MLSCN to practice

Medical Laboratory Scientist are not Science Laboratory Technologist (SLT)
who are technologists trained in basic science

They don't do Industrial training (IT)

They acquire license before they can practice their job roles.


the are involved in both clinical and biomedical research leading to new test methods, new diseases discovery, clinical trials in biomedical and pharmaceutical firms

they are highly skilled health care professionals and form the core with of medical team team involving doctors, nurses medical laboratory scientist, pharmacists and other dynamic members of the health team


They were not trained in Polytechnic.

They were not trained in College of Education

They were trained in University

in medical school not science department

There is No Diploma for Medical Laboratory Science.

They renew their licence every year before they can practice.

They are regulated by a professional body (MLSCN).

They are not Biochemist
They are not Microbiologist
They are not Laboratory Technologist
They are not Science Laboratory Technologist.

Never let anyone deceive you again.

Please, always ask for License before you engage anybody claiming to be a Medical Laborayory scientist .
