In the summer of 2017, a new world transfer record was set as Neymar moved to PSG. Being an integral part of Barcelona’s first team, Neymar left basically, in order to escape Messi’s shadow. Undoubtedly, the fat salary that PSG promised must have partly influenced Neymar’s decision but this in itself is not complete. In other words, Neymar would remain as a second fiddle, if he did not step out Messi’s shadow. Hence, the logic behind his move was easily understandable.

But unfortunately, the supposed reason why Neymar left Barcelona has not been justified. In fact, he has only managed to escape one shadow to another especially with the rise of Kylian Mbappé. Hence, making him less relevant in PSG.
