Getting on to the music scene in Nigeria as a random street artist with “Issa Goal” featuring top rappers, Olamide and Lil Kesh, Naira Marley was now a blown act but he was still a B list act not A list.

But prior to this time, Naira Marley was an underground act in England, London to be precise.

Recently Naira Marley, real names Azeez Fashola was picked up by Nigerian anti-graft agency, EFCC. He was picked up in connection to fraud crimes and money laundering alongside a already blown street rapper, Zlatan Ibile.

In the early hours of May 10 which was his birthday and a day after releasing his smash hit song, “Am I A Yahoo Boy”, the news of Marley’s arrest spread like wildfire, in no time he was trending on Twitter.

Like we said earlier, he was an underground act that even his name never got to no.10 on Twitter trends. But the EFCC arrest boosted his fame. We have different ways to prove that:

1. Social media followers

Naira Marley before his arrest, his social media followers were like a random upcoming act out there with a little upgrade.

But now both on Twitter and Instagram Naira Marley has a massive followers count and is nearing a 1 million count on Instagram.

2. Youtube views

For the first time in Naira Marley’s career, his video got over a million views on Youtube.. and its with his controversial song that got him into trouble, “Am I A Yahoo Boy”.

The visuals to the song got a million views in weeks and as the time of writing this its already on 3 million views. To show you his trials worked for him, the song that brought him to the limelight doesn’t have that numbers.
So with this and many more we can safely say.. EFCC gave Naira Marley more fame.
