21st of June,2019 Friday came like every other school day without a knowledge of what it holds.I saw a man with books, so I concluded he was here to sell book. Lo and behold, it was Mr Lekan Otufodurin a world class journalist, a media career development specialist.In the past decade Mr Otufodunrin has dedicated himself into training and nurturing young journalists.

Mr Otufodunrin came to Lagos State University to conduct a quiz and make learning fun for it School of Communication students in commemoration of his 60th birthday.

The event took place at Lagos State University, School of Communication New faculty building, Ojo with Animam Sandra and Okerinde Ayobami representing the institution.

The representives Answered twenty questions in all, out of 40 questions from the print media, broadcast, public relations and advertisements.

" It is giving back to the society which is rare these days, he actually went out of his way to make a difference" said Gbadamosi Joseph

"It was a thrilling exercise with a valid transmission of knowledge no doubt. Did I learn ? Yes I did." Kelechi Azodeh also commented.

Mr Otufodunrin who conducted the quiz himself said the quiz has been conducted in about 8 communication departments in Nigeria. He delivered an entertaining and of course educating session.He gave out the rules of the competition ; with the contestants having 5 seconds to answer any question, they were given an option to ask for help from the audience.

He said the competition have been conducted in the University of Lagos, Bayero University, Lagos State polytechnic, Nigerian institute of journalism and so on. The top three schools will move to the next stage with Laptops and other gadgets up for grabs, with consolation prizes for all participants.

The audience were active, they answered four questions for the contestants.The audience really enjoyed the competition.They clamored for more questions even with the 5 questions thrown out to the audience. Those who answer questions were given books like "In the name of our father" by Olukorede S. Yishau, The JOURNALIST YOU OUGHT TO BE by his very own self etc

At the end of the competition the Contestants were able to get sixteen questions right out of the twenty questions they were asked.

At the end of the Competition Mr Otufodunrin was really thrilled with the activeness and enthusiasm of all present.He ended by dishing out timeless advice.

He said " Mass Communication Student: I want to be a broadcaster, writer, photo journalist
Me: Show me your @youtube Channel, @instagram account,blog, Twitter with content of what you have done and can do "

He also reiterated that " your first class degree or certification will not matter in the face of practical experience when you get to the industry"

He ended by wishing the students luck in our mass communication journey.
