Edo Assembly Crisis: Police Urge Aggrieved Parties To Seek Legal Redress by owisdom58: 1:05pm On Jun 26, 2019 |
The Edo State Police Command has urged aggrieved parties in the leadership crisis rocking the Edo State House of Assembly to seek redress in a competent court of law. This came as the Joint Action for the Advancement of Democracy in Edo (JAADE) sought for police patrol for a peaceful march to register its disappointment over perceived skewed inauguration of the Edo State House of Assembly. A statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Tunde Sunmonu, said the Police Commissioner disapproved any form of prosession for now. The statement said the Police Commissioner advised any aggrieved party to seek redress in court. Leader of JAADE, Comrade Aiyamenkhue Edokpolo, who briefed journalists after aborting the procession called for immediate and unconditional restoration of an ideal democratic order where proper inauguration for the 24 members-elect would be done. Edokpolo said the inauguration of only nine members was an assault on the psyche of Edo people. He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure the Edo State House of Assembly revert to the true dictates of the rule of law and nip in the bud any foreseen breakdown of law and order. Edokpolo stated that the installation of minority rule in the Edo Assembly was uncivilized, barbaric and threat to democracy and peace. They should secretly go and meet the speaker for swearing-in. June 2019 is gradually coming to an end. Hence, no swearing-in, no SALARY. They should remember that nobody can fight the government successfully. How much time do they want to waste on litigation without Regular bank Alert Hunger will just finish them and their constituents will even be the ones to suffer it most. 1 Like |

Ambode come learn work. Nice one from the police. Any aggrieved party should seek legal redress. Am against any form of illegality and unconstitutionality but a situation where an ex governor wants to cow or gag a sitting governor is a no no for me. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Say no to any form of godfatherism. 6 Likes |

Just remember this when you begin your tirade against Buhari for all your problem. Here is a Governor sponsoring illegality and y'all are applauding his brigandage. Minority 9 lawbrakers elect speaker while the majority 24 are being prevented from the house. Continue to wait for dividend of democracy. 2 Likes |

Akiika: See this infant. SW is not a field for brigandage yet Tinubu is singlehandedly handpicking all governors and house members in SW. What do you call that? Lawful? Physician heal thyself. 6 Likes 1 Share |
