President, Alabaster Community Development Foundation, a Non Government Organisation, Princess Victoria Funke Ehuwa has described the various initiatives of the First Lady of Ondo State, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu – Akeredolu as ones targeted at improving the total wellbeing of the female folk, especially the girl- child.

She stated this in an exclusive chat with The Hope yesterday in Akure.

According to her, Mrs Akeredolu’s programmes which include BEMORE involve production of solar renewable energy, power energy, bead making among others are result oriented noting that BRECAN has been beneficial to the women in the area of breast cancer detection, precaution and treatment.

She explained that the Ondo First Lady has been putting in place measures to ensure a better future for the girl-child, adding that “her projects are for the development of the young ones to become great future leaders for both the state and the country at large.”

Describing her as a seasoned administrator, mother and hardworking individual, Ehuwa, a former OSOPADEC Commissioner in the state, applauded her role in supporting female active political participation saying, “she wants many women to be involved in politics.”

Speaking further, she said; “she encourages women by working with them in various interventions such as empowerment programmes for vulnerable groups and less privileged in the community.

” She wants to create in Ondo females world class status in order to compete favourably with their counterparts in other parts of the world. She is a crusader in gender reorientation, high capacity building and general wellbeing of the society.”

However, she called on other First Ladies to form synergy to develop more females and children in the country saying, “their collaboration can go a long way to develop the nation.”
