The Super Eagles’ ignominious loss to Madagascar on Sunday is a serious wakeup call –in short, a call to pause for a reality check. Before then, the Super Eagles had appeared too proud as if the world was under their feet. Whereas, they had only struggled to beat Burundi –a less rated team in Africa – in their opening game, and were fortunate to defeat Guinea –an easy nut to crack, after which, they thought they had arrived.

Meanwhile, there were many weaknesses they thought they could ignore until they met Madagascar –a debutant – who humbled them with two zero. Who would have believed that the Super Eagles would lose to Madagascar of all countries and a “new comer” for that matter? That is what pride can do. You know, pride! They say goes before downfall.
