Member representing Umuahia South state Constituency Hon. Barrister Jerry Uzosike on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) Federal Medical Center Umuahia, Dr. Azubuike Onyebuchi to congratulate him on his appointment and also to have a firsthand view of the discipline, innovations and professionalism he has brought into the establishment since he assumed office as the CMD.

Hon. Uzosike who went on the visit in company of other prominent sons of Umuahia south including Engr. Kingsley Asuoha, Engr. Humphrey Stephen, Chief Obi Akaegbu and Mr. Abraham Amaefule congratulated the new CMD on his emergence as the chief Medical Director of FMC Umuahia and the first CMD from Umuahia extraction after 40 years in any federal government establishment situated in Umuahia.

In his speech Hon. Uzosike, described the appointment as merited having come first in the interview for the same position in 2011 but was denied, he stated that everything happens at the appointed time and that time came in 2019 having come first again and this time around was confirmed CMD.

He commended the new CMD on the maintenance culture which he has introduced in FMC since he took over office which has transformed the old maternity wards into beautiful, hygienic and radiantly looking facilities, they encouraged him to further deepen the discipline and dedication to duty that he has instituted among the staff in relation to duty and attention to patients.

The Honourable member reminded him that coming from the young generation, everybody is looking up to him and that he should not let Umuahia down.

In his reply, Dr. Azubuike Onyebuchi expressed joy over the solidarity and thanked Umuahia south state constituency for their prayers.
He promised to do all within his powers to bring positive improvements that will turn FMC Umuahia into a referral center, he thanked God for giving him the opportunity and promised not to let Umuahia down.

He used the opportunity to congratulate Umuahia south state constituents for electing a vibrant, learned and intelligent young man with a vision and mission to represent them and expressed confidence in the abilities of Hon Jerry Uzosike to represent Umuahia south creditably.
