President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Ruga Settlements Project following a public outcry from concerned Nigerians.

A presidency source told INDEPENDENT that the President, after consultations with stakeholders suspended the idea pending further notice.

He added that a statement will soon be issued by the Presidency.

The President, after consultations with stakeholders, has resolved to put away the idea for a thorough review and well accepted approach to the menace constituted to national security by the constant clashes between herdsmen and farmers.

The question is must Ruga be manage by Fulani only or by local herder?


The initiative for ruga is productive but its presentation is devastating


I wish cattle breeding can be carried out by each state govts to create job opportunity for those who study agriculture

Following public outcry and the seeming misconception about the Ruga Settlement Projects, an idea designed to stem the tide of herdsmen/farmers clashes across the country, President Muhammadu Buhari is said to have suspended the idea pending further notice, THISDAY has learnt.

The president, after consultations with stakeholders, THISDAY gathered, has resolved to put away the idea for a thorough review and well acceptable approach to the menace constituted to national security by the constant clashes between herdsmen and farmers.

A presidency source that hinted at this development, said the announcement would be made any moment from now with detailed explanations, going forward.
