Gunmen have kidnapped Dr. Bashir Zubayr, a consultant with the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital ( formerly called Bayero University Teaching hospital) Kano State, Igbere TV reports.


The family of the doctor confirmed the abduction on Thursday.


Dr Zubayr was kidnapped along Lokoja-Okene federal highway on Wednesday afternoon.


The doctor was abducted alongside two of his younger brothers, and a younger sister at Irepeni 20km West of Lokoja.


They were on their way to Okene for the 40th day Fidau of their late mother.


The family said Zubayr’s car was sighted at Irepeni with the doors left ajar.
