War can be defined as a state of hostility between two or more person, communities, states and nations. Over the centuries and years we have noted in history some wars. Notable among them are the Crimean war between Russia and a group of nations including England, France, Turkey and Sardinia (1853 - 1856); the Cold War from 1945 to 1990 between countries led by the old Soviet Union and countries led by the United States of America; the English civil war between the parliamentarians and the royalist led by Charles 1 (1644 - 1648); Franco - Prussian war; French and Indian war (1755 - 1760), the first and second world wars; the Biafra war of 1967 - 1970 in Nigeria.

Before full scale break out, usually there are remote and immediate causes which fundamentally is the aggression of a particular party/person or nation state. Usually also steps are taken to avert the outbreak of full scale war.

Coming home to our dear country, one cannot stop to wonder or ask if we are not already gravitating towards a full scale war.

Everyday we hear of embezzlement of huge sums of monies leading to widespread economic poverty in the land. We hear of physical and human right abuses everyday. An example is the senator who slapped a lady in a shop a few days ago. Boko haram started like a joke and now we hear of ISIS joint them. Now nowhere is safe anymore with the herdsmen menace all over the country.

Recently we have heard socio cultural groups issuing threats to other ethnic nationalities over killings in the land. As it stands the amount of people killed everyday by herdsmen and boko haram can no longer be quantified. The best efforts of the military and paramilitary does not seem to suffice. We do not see any clear solution to this problem especially with reports in the newspapers and social media of people sharing monies meant to sort out the problems.

Will our government and political leaders wait until people begin defend themselves and their communities against the aggressors?

Hopefully something can be done as quickly as possible to prevent this country from facing another full scale war.
