Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya meets President Muhammadu Buhari

...assures of Gombe state's support for FG's policies and programmes

...hails President for signing Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo establishment Act

President Muhammadu Buhari granted audience to Gombe state Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya at the presidential villa.

During the meeting which held behind closed doors, Governor Yahaya expressed the solidarity and support of the government and people of Gombe state with the President and the Federal government's policies and programmes.

He also briefed the President on the developments in his state, viz-a-viz his efforts in addressing the challenges on ground with a view to bettering the lots of citizenry.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya's visit to the State House came within the ambience of the euphoria greeting the signing of the Act, establishing the Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo, Gombe State. The Governor therefore appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for the gesture, describing it as a special mark of honour to the entire people of the state and promised to provide necessary support to facilitate smooth take off of the institution.

While fielding questions from State House correspondents , Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed reservations over the suspension of the Federal government's Rural Grazing Area, RUGA policy ,saying Gombe state is ready for the scheme any time.

He restated that `Ruga Settlement’ which is a rural settlement in which nomads stay in designated places provided with basic amenities, was a well conceived idea that is capable of stemming the tides of disputes between farmers and herders.

The Governor who expressed disappointment that some states misunderstood the idea and rejected the pilot scheme, however revealed that Gombe state has over 200,000 hectares of land reserved for grazing and is therefore desirous of implementing the Ruga scheme.

Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya reiterated the determination of the state government to partner with the Buhari administration for speedy development of Gombe state.

When asked about the water situation in Gombe state,the governor revealed that the Dadinkowa water scheme is being resuscitated, disclosing that over 40 million litres of water is now being pumped daily for domestic consumption in Gombe and its environs.
