This is the story of a Nigerian Emmanuel Ilori who arrived in cape town, South Africa from Nigeria in 2012. The usual hustling of Nigerians for greener pastures abroad made Emmanuel take the trip to South Africa. He was linked with an agent in South Africa who would sort out his accommodation problem but the agent was nowhere to be found when he arrived in South Africa.
He felt downcast considering he has been fooled and dwindled. This is one of the many stories Nigerians tell on their search for greener pastures abroad.
The reality dawned on him that he was homeless with no money in a strange land with nobody to assist him. He had to seek refuge in a church who gave him shelter in a Sunday school room where he was employed as a security guard.
This man rose from an unpleasant situation he found himself and went to improve himself academically. six years later he was conferred with a doctorate in public administration at UWC‚ where he is an associate lecturer in the school of government‚ economics and management sciences. He was able to achieve the height he attained today from the strong determination and commitment to make it in life irrespective of the circumstances he found in himself.
