It's like you are confuse.

Why didn't you apply to study Nursing instead of Biochemistry

If you read Nursing, alot of agencies would be interested in sponsoring you.

Good morning NLanders.
I've been a guest all these while and decided to register today.
Please, I Really need help at this point now.

I'm a certified Civil Engineer B.Eng and I'm 24 years of age but currently running another program in Biochemistry, infact I'm in my finals.
Please someone should guide me on how to fulfill my dreams and plans. I really want to migrate to the US and continue with Nursing but the issue is that I know nothing about the procedure and right steps to take.

What are the requirements needed?
Does it require that I become a permanent resident before I can be able to proceed with the nursing program?
What are the stages of this program?
Does it also require my Nigerian degree as a kind of supporting document?

Pls, I'm actually a novice as regards this.
Guide me like one who guides a novice because I don't know my left and right in making a concrete decision.

God bless you.

When you were 9 years old what did you aspire to be, maybe Doctor, engineer, astronaut, pilot or even super man right? Where did that dream go? Did you ever aspire to be a nurse? In fact while growing up as a kid i never heard any boy say he wanted to be a nurse when he grows up. But I'm sure you've heard about nurses in america making a ton of money and now all of a sudden your destined and chosen path in life is to become a nurse so you 'can save lives' abi?

Do you really care about being compassionate and caring to people on their sick bed or are you only dreaming about the over 6 figure annual salaries your friend told you they make by working 7 days a week and racking up several hours of overtime? Had you been asked back in primary 5 what your future aspirations were, would you have boldly said you envision yourself cleaning the white man's buttocks as a male nurse? I doubt it, but here you are, a learned biochemist who has the potential to make Nigeria stronger but instead deciding to flee to the white man's land to be a nurse.

It's truly sad that 95% of Nigerians today will leave the country simply because they no longer believe it will get better. It can only get better if we remain here, no matter how difficult it is today. America in the early 1800s which was about the same age as Nigeria is today - was a hostile shithole country to live in. But today it is great. Moral of the story, make use of your biochemistry degree in Nigeria and stop seeking an easy route in the white man's land.

You are a demented fool. How many boys dream of being a nurse? Even as things have changed, how many percent of the workforce is male? The only reason men go into nursing overseas isn’t because they are caring or compassionate it’s simply because of money.

So MrBrownJay1, are you saying folks should not relocate to get the best of life in a place where things work (provided it's legitimately done)? For ages, humans have been migrating and there's nothing wrong with it provided it's legally done. BTW, not everyone is interested in "saving/building the country".

nah bro, i am all about people doing what they desire for their lives so long it aint criminial or against the law, but we have to be realistic here (and most importantly consistent)...

some dude studied engineering/biochemistry (for god knows how many years), and now suddenly because he wants to emigrate to the US, his newly found passion is to clean people's nyansh?!

I refuse to laugh. angry grin

BTW, engineering courses' duration is five years (assuming no strikes, which I am sure occurred) in Nigeria. Then, an additional one year of national service (NYSC), assuming his school sent them early enough. Some schools take a year after graduation before doing so.

Cleaning yansh might be a passion......... Not all nurses work on wards........ So yansh cleaning is not always on the cards (passion or not)...............

What's wrong if he's in the profession for money, isn't it the same thing with doctors, are most of them not there for money? is there any profession where 60% of people there aren't in it for money?
