Primary Election: KEDF Advises Kogi APC Stakeholders, Aspirants To Stop Chasing Shadow

The Kogi East Development Forum (KEDF) has advised some politicians parading themselves as APC stakeholders and aspirants to stop chasing shadow over adoption of indirect primary election from selection of party flagbearer for November governorship poll.

Kogi East Development Forum in a statement issued on Monday by its Chairman, Nasir Mohammed described the rejection of indirect primary election by Some stakeholders and governorship aspirants as self serving, unnecessary distraction and deliberate attempt to cause disaffection among Kogi APC members.

The statement read:

”Our attention has been drawn to a protest letter forwarded to National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress by Kogi APC Stakeholders and some aspirants to reject adoption of indirect primary election for selection party candidate ahead November 16 governorship election

We are amazed by the level of desperation of some politicians to cause unnecessary criss in Kogi state ahead of the governorship. It’s on record that APC in build up to 2019 general election provides two options; Direct or indirect primary election to select party candidate(s) and empowers State Executive Committee to recommend preferred option for National Working Committee approval

Recall that Kogi APC adopted indirect primary election to select all the 34 party candidates during just concluded 2019 general elections without any rancour. Recently, all the genuine Kogi APC stakeholders at a well publicized party event attended by Governor Yahaya Bello, party executive members, elected political office holders, Hon Hadi Ametuo and his group and others adopted indirect primary election for selection of APC governorship candidate for November poll. Their recommendations was immediately transmitted to National Working Committee for ratification, which APC NWC approved last week.

It’s pertinent to state that we aware of Senator Kadiri systematic rejection of reconciliation efforts initiated by Governor Yahaya Bello due to his personal and tribal agenda card which is disservice to entire APC structure in Kogi state.

KEDF therefore urge the so called stakeholders and aspirants to devote their time and energy towards marketing their aspirants to potential delegates instead of chasing shadow or undone adoption of indirect primary. It expected that real stakeholders will have influence on party members and executives but we all know they only depends on media to discredit their presumed enemies.

We also call on APC National Working Committee to disregard the self serving stakeholders and aspirants as they do not have the authority to speak for Kogi APC or its members.
