The 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is likely to challenge election results from eleven states in his petition filed against President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

Atiku is currently challenging President Buhari’s victory in the February 23 presidential election.

In his petition, the PDP candidate claimed to have scored 1,615,302 votes than the President, whereas the result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) show that Buhari won the election with 15,191,847 total votes while Atiku got 11,262,978 votes.

The PDP and its candidate had on Monday presented their first set of six witnesses at the tribunal to support their petitions against President Buhari, the APC and INEC.

Three out of the six witnesses claimed to have worked as INEC ad-hoc staff in the presidential poll. The witnesses testified before the tribunal that they transmitted results of the election electronically into INEC’s server.

Atiku and PDP’s second witness, Mr. Peter Uzioma Obi, who served as Registration Area Technician (RATECH) at a ward level in Rivers State during the polls, had while fielding questions from INEC’s counsel Yunus Usman (SAN), testified that the electoral body trained him and others on electronic transmission of the results into the electoral body’s server.

In his testimony as reported by Punch, Adedokun Adeoye, who appeared as Atiku and PDP’s fourth witness also claimed to have transmitted the presidential election results directly into INEC’s server after the polls were concluded.

Adedoye claimed to have served as an Assistant Presiding Officer (I ) during the election.

Atiku and the PDP are now said to be considering challenging results of the election in 11 states after presenting their last set of result sheets for the states on Monday.

Punch reports that the states are: Niger, Yobe, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kano, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Kaduna and Zamfara.

Part of the exhibits said to have been presented by the prosecution include Form EC8E dated February 27, 2019, being the final results of the February 23 presidential election declared by INEC
