IGP, Mohammed Adamu Visits Policemen Injured In Shiites’ Protest by Abuharib(m): 3:42pm On Jul 10, 2019
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has visited the policemen attacked by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (ISM), also known as Shiites, Igbere TV reports.

A protest by the group on Tuesday at the National Assembly turned violent with two officers shot, several injured and vehicles destroyed.

The group has been protesting the refusal of the Federal Government to release its leader, Ibrahim El Zakzaky, and his wife, who have been in detention since 2015.

Mr. Adamu arrived the National Hospital premises around 12:28 pm on Wednesday and was shown his way around by the commissioner of police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Bala Ciroma, and the trauma surgeon, Dr. Apollo Kanati.

The invasion left nine policemen injured but only five are on admission at the hospital.

The police have also debunked claims that one of the policemen died as a result of the attack.
