What Causes Endometrial Hyperplasia? by RachelJayne: 2:31am On Jul 17, 2019
The thickness of endometrium will change regularly with menstruation, but sometimes endometrial hyperplasia is a pathological symptom, which will affect our health and should be alert to. The blood supply of endometrium is strengthened, and the phenomenon of gradual thickening occurs, and endometrium will be thickening. The causes of endometrial hyperplasia are mostly related to the excessive secretion of estrogen and the lack of progesterone in the ovary. If the ovarian hormone is abnormal, a large number of estrogens will stimulate the endometrium, easily lead to abnormal endometrial hyperplasia, the typical symptom is abnormal vaginal bleeding.
So what are the other causes of endometrial hyperplasia?
The main reason for endometrial hyperplasia is the disorder of ovarian hormone function. A large number of estrogens stimulate the endometrium and cause endometrial hyperplasia, which will put you at risk of getting endometrial cancer, so endometrial hyperplasia rarely occurs in women with normal menstrual cycles. The causes include the following.
1. Improper Use of Contraceptives.
Women use lutein-free contraceptives or hormone supplements when they need contraception, and it may cause estrogen disorders in vivo, which may lead to ovarian dysfunction and endometrial hyperplasia for a long time. In addition, long-term use of estrogen-rich health products and tonics for women can also produce adverse stimulation to the endometrium.
2. Induction of Chronic Diseases
It mainly refers to patients with anovulation, it is common in young women at childbearing age, such as patients with polycystic ovary.
3. Diabetes, Hypertension and Other Diseases.
Patients with diabetes mellitus and hypertension are at higher risk of getting endometrial hyperplasia. First of all, diabetic patients have abnormal metabolism, while hypertensive patients have bad habits such as high-fat diet, which can induce abnormal hormone secretion and risk of endometrial cancer. Obesity, diabetes and hypertension are also known as the "triple syndrome of endometrial cancer".
4. Menopause is Too Late(over 55 years old)
Estrone is the main estrogen in the body of postmenopausal women. If the endometrium is affected by estrone without progesterone antagonism for a long time, it can lead to endometrial canceration.
5. Endocrine Functional Tumors
Endocrine functional tumors are rare tumors, which means the gonadotropic function of pituitary glands is abnormal. For example, ovarian granulosa cell tumors can sustainably secrete estrogen, which produces sustained stimulation to the endometrium.
Treatment
Endometrial hyperplasia is a reversible disease. As long as it is found in time and treated actively, it can be cured. But it also has the possibility of canceration, so patients should be more vigilant. The treatment of endometrial hyperplasia generally include drug treatment and surgical treatment, and the option depends on the condition of the disease.
Surgical Treatment
The canceration rate of endometrial hyperplasia is higher in women over 40 years old, so these patients can not only rely on drug treatment but also need surgery to remove the uterus. The premise of treatment is to find out the cause of disease. If endometrial hyperplasia is accompanied by the polycystic ovary, ovarian functional tumors, and other endocrine dysfunction symptoms, targeted treatment should be carried out. Generally, surgery is used for elderly women without fertility plans, it mainly includes curettage and uterine aspiration. However, it should be noted that patients with hypertension, diabetes, obesity or poor tolerance should carefully choose to have surgery or not. Of course, young patients should also consider surgical treatment in case of ineffective drug treatment, so as not to aggravate the disease, develop into cancer or recurrence of the disease.
Medication
Drug therapy is mainly aimed at patients with relatively mild conditions. There are two kinds of drugs - clomiphene and progesterone, which are commonly used to promote ovulation. Drug use and course of treatment must be controlled under the guidance of doctors, and patients need to pay attention to whether there are adverse reactions to drugs. Chinese medicine can also be used to treat endometrial hyperplasia, such as Fuyan Pills which is safe, effective with no side effects. Fuyan Pills is mainly used to regulate the periods and help restore ovulation. The purpose of surgical treatment is to radically cure endometrial hyperplasia and prevent the development of endometrial cancer. Doctors suggest that not every patient is suitable for surgical treatment, only patients over 40 years old with no fertility requirements haven’t improved through the long-term drug therapy or are easy to recur, or patients who are difficult to be diagnosed as endometrial cancer can be treated by surgery.
