The Ondo State Government has mapped out plan to have data base of all youths in the state.

Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Dotun Owanikin announced this in his message at this year’s World Youth Skills Day celebration in Akure.

Mr. Owanikin, represented by the Director of Youth Department, Mr. Lekan Oluborode, explained that the reference data base would be used to gather information about them and assist the government in ascertaining where to focus on.

“The Akeredolu’s government has a lot of plans for the youth in the state, but first, we are considering knowing the demography of our youth by creating an accurate reference data base for them to know their present status at all time.

Where they live, what they do, employed or unemployed, age range, and most importantly, to know who and how to apply for benefits accruing to them.”

The government will also continue to lay emphasis on training programmes for the young ones.

He promised access to credit facilities to kick start their businesses after the training programmes.

Other speakers at the event were Special Adviser on Energy, Mr. Tunji Ariyomo and a member of the State House of Assembly, Mr.Tolulope Borokini charged the youths to imbibe the culture of hard work, discipline, resourcefulness and professionalism in their chosen line of businesses.

Highlights of the programme were lucky draw for people to get their business registered with Corporate Affairs Commission and training on different vocations as well as other areas of specialisation freely

If not for stupidity, would you say Ondo Youth are Lazy? 7 out of 10 youth in Ondo State are graduate and have family plantation farms wich are their means of earning. Average Ondo Youth don't travel to other states and make noise but to be focus because they are learned. Or is it because you don't see them owking on the street or do Okada in cities across Nigeria. Is that why you tag them Lazy?. I tell people to read and reserch, they won't listen. Type in your google, the most educated state in Nigeria then see your self. See how you disgrace your self. Akeredolu always in planning stage. You leave the state education sector in limbo. No new school, dilapidated structure and scanty teaching staff. You even announced the elimination of free education in the state while hiking the fee of state owned higher institution when the goal for 21st century is moving our youth toward industrialization. You want to develop the youth without first educating them. This is 21st century. You benefitted from Awolowo free and qualitative education in which Ondo was a front liner and that is why you are a SAN today but you keep sending Ondo youth to farm

You are right bro but that glory is about to be eroded with the current adminstrative style of Akeredolu. Education is the core ideology of south west state as layed down by Awolowo and Ajasin executed it to the letter in the old Ondo and Ekiti state. Akeredolu has had no single contributiion to the state education sector and I can tell you this had continued for the past 12 years or so. Our youth were railroaded into partisan politics by Mimiko and their revolutionary spirit of holding government accountable was killed. Even in early 2000 you hear Ondo student breaking records and assuming leadership in many schools union. But I can tell you this has began to dwindle and the trend should be arrested. I am from Ondo state and I go home. The increasing sight of secondary school failed out roaming the street is a heartaches. Akeredolu have a plan for them. He plan to empower them into bussiness when all they need now is education.
