A socio-political organisation, United For Peace Of Nigeria (UPOC) has sounded the alarm that last week’s killing of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti is an attempt to lure the South-West into an ethnic war with the northern part of the country.

While condoning with Fasoranti, the group also condemned the manner in which the killing was handled by the Police, saying vital evidences which could have greatly assisted in unraveling the puzzle behind Olakunrin’s murder have been contaminated.

In a statement made available to Daily Independent, the group’s Secretary, Thompson Emiedafe also cautioned Yinka Odumakin, Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary over his utterances ” which is aimed at inciting the Yoruba race into fighting an unnecessary war with the Northern parts of the country”.

” With grieving hearts, we commiserate with Pa. Fasoranti on this unfortunate incident and the immediate family of the deceased. We are also appealing to the Government both at the state and federal levels to ensure that the rising insecurity in the country is curtailed”.

” After a careful consideration of the issue, we believe this ugly incident may be a calculated attempt by some unknown persons to lure the Yorubas into war with the Northerners and possibly ignite another civil war”.

” Looking at Mrs Olakunrin’s killing, several questions come to mind which Nigerians should also ponder upon. Why was she the only one killed by the suspected herdsmen? Did these herdsmen know she is Pa. Fasoranti’s daughter? Has anybody ever asked what the nature of the woman’s business was before her death? If she was a lawyer, was she handling any high-profile cases or was she into any business deal before her death?”

” In a case where a prominent figure was murdered while being chauffeured , the driver will be the primary suspect, why didn’t the Police arrest the driver immediately the incident happen for a proper investigation? Why wasn’t the SUV in which the deceased was murdered driven to the Police station?”

” We can go on and on. There are several questions to be asked whicg space will not permit. While we called on President Muhammadu Buhari to rise up and address the worsening insecurity challenges in the country, we also urge him to take urgent steps in naming his cabinet and rejigging the security apparatus in the country”.

It has been reported manybtimes that her vehicle wasnt the only one that caught bullet and she wasnt only one that died. Actually there is one or two people kidnapped in that ambush that are still not released.

Its not about war. Definitely nobone wants to fight war. In all of this article no where was a mention made of fulani herders carrying ak47, which is at the root of the issue.
