PROLOGUE
God has appointed a destiny for you. He created you for that purpose. You were designed for it. Your life experiences and all the things that influence you are moving you in a certain direction that you are meant to go. Life would be meaningless without things working that way. It is true that the meaning of life is the meaning we give to it. But it is also true that the meaning of life is inherent in the existence of the universe and our destiny which God created it with. It is all a matter of aligning our thoughts with the thoughts of God in order to experience the perfect meaning of everything.
“The Abandoned Prince” is not just a novel to entertain or keep you busy, but a motivating, transforming and inspiring story that portrays how Samuel the prince of Umueze Kingdom was abandoned, the reason why he was abandoned, what he passed through before realizing that he is a Prince and what he did when he realized that he is a prince.
This novel will motivate you to realize that you will never go far or discover who you are in life until you believe that you are the only problem you will ever have and that you are the only solution to your problems. That People’s opinion of you does not have to become your own reality. It will equally teach you that the type of friends you keep determines how far you will go in life.
Read with concentration to discover the true lessons in this story.

CHAPTER ONE –
NAUGHTY BOY

“I don’t know what I did, and my mother just called me naughty boy”. Samuel was crying beside their house. He was still wearing his school uniform, leaning against the wall.
“Is that why you are crying?” Samuel was still crying.
“Stop crying, you hear?” Cleaning the tears on Samuel’s eyes, Miracle consoled him and told him to stop crying. She asked him to come with her to their house, that she has something for him. Samuel stopped crying and followed her to their house. On their way to Miracle’s house, Samuel asked her why she came to console him. She answered nothing. She later told him that it doesn’t matter. Samuel paused for a while and asked her again.
“I hope your parents will not ask me to leave their house?”
Miracle stopped and asked Samuel if he is not comfortable walking with her; he kept quiet and she asked him the second time. Samuel turned to her and said.
“Is not as if I am not comfortable, but I am just a bit surprised.” She turned and kept moving.
“Surprised?”
“Yes, I am a bit surprised seeing you close to me; me of all people.”
“How, do you mean I am not good enough to be your friend?”
“No! On the contrary, I should be the one asking why you chose to have me as your friend?”
“No problem, let’s leave this matter next time”.
“Ok, if you said so”. They walked along without a word.
Reaching Miracle’s house, Samuel noticed that her parents were not at home and asked.
“Is it because your parents are not at home, that’s the reason, why you asked me to come with you?”
She was opening the door to her room when Samuel asked her the question; she turned to Samuel and smiled. When she opened the door she said.
“Please let us enter inside”. They went inside to Miracle’s room and she told Samuel to sit down. She welcomed him with a glass of water per Samuel’s demand.
After drinking the water, Samuel asked her about her parents. She told him that they traveled to Enugu for the burial of one of their relative, but will come back on the evening of that day. She further asked Samuel.
“But Samuel, why were you crying so bitterly?”

Samuel was actually in SS2 while Miracle was in SS3 when these were happening. Samuel and Miracle were in the same school. So, Samuel was not comfortable to freely converse with her senior in both age and class. He was the third among four in their family, while Miracle was the only child of Mr. & Mrs. John Peter. Miracle’s parents are rich, but the father of Samuel is late. Samuel’s mother and siblings considered Samuel as a naughty boy because he always disobeys the opinions of his brothers due to their pretence and off-street lives.

However, Samuel and Miracle were living about 500m apart. Samuel after some minutes of silent to Miracle’s question said.
“As I earlier told you, I came back from school and greeted my mother as usual; all she could reply was to tell me that I am a naughty boy. And when I tried to find out why she must call me naughty boy, my elder brother, Metuwa started calling me names. That was why I couldn’t hold back my tears.”
“Listen, I may not feel the way you exactly feel, but I know it actually pained you to see your own mother call you naughty child. But I want you to forget everything that happened and listen to me”.
She stood up and moved close to Samuel, held his hands and said.
“Samuel…”
“Yes senior”.
“From today I will be your friend, and I will not like you to hate either your mother or siblings because they insults and call you names. Did you hear me?” “Yes, I heard you.”
“Now, I also want you to always tell me if you need anything and your mother or siblings could not give it to you. Be it money or eateries. Do you understand?” “Yes.”
She left him and went back to her seat. “So, have you eaten?”
“No, I have not divested even my school uniform when all these started.”
“Ok, wait for me, I am coming. She went inside their kitchen and brought out jollof rice for Samuel. He ate and appreciated Miracle for everything. She escorted him to a point and bade him good bye.
