If you ask an average Christian this question, the answer will be "heaven".

According to Genesis Chapter 1 vs 1,
In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth
. But God is in existence before "the beginning". So where does he live before he created heavens and earth?

But according to 1 Timothy 6:16,
He alone can never die, and he lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach him. No human eye has ever seen him, nor ever will. All honor and power to him forever! Amen.

There you have your answer.
