MAUSTECH: Ogun students convey emergency congress

The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) says it will convey an emergency congress over the brouhaha surrounding the yet-to-take-off Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technical (MAUSTECH), Abeokuta.

The National President of the Association, Ogunrombi Oluwaleke, said a statement on Sunday that the congress is to avail the well-meaning and intellectual indigenous students of Ogun state an avenue to X-ray the survival of the MAUSTECH.

It will be recalled Governor Dapo Abiodun had sought the approval of the state House of Assembly to reverse the status of the proposed university to Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.

The association however said it will not seat and fold its arms and watch as decisions that primarily belongs to it be dragged by secondary stakeholders.

"NAOSS national leadership has resolved and taught it expedient to convey a needful CONGRESS of the association, to avail the well meaning and intellectual indigenous students of Ogun state avenue to X-ray the survival of the MAUSTECH.

"NAOSS also appeal to groups, organization, societies or bodies not to politicise nor ethnisize the issue of MAUSTECH, as we students receives daily with utmost dismay series of diverse opinions on newspapers, social media and other medium.

"Many of these are obviously pushed by some persons to negatively portray the new government of Ogun State.

"Finally, the national leadership of NAOSS as resolved to convey a NATIONAL CONGRESS OF THE ASSOCIATION as follows;

"Arrival: Friday 26th of July, CONGRESS: 27th of July, 2019, Press Conference : 28th of July, 2019"
