If you haven’t been to the Awankere festival popularly known as Okere Juju , you have missed out on one of the most popular and oldest festivals in Warri, A Celebration by the Okere Community (the oldest indigenous itsekiri in modern Warri Metropolis), it is a fertility festival rooted in the tradition & culture of the Itsekiri people. The Community recently celebrated the 522nd edition of the ancient festival and Eagle schnapps, Nigeria’s foremost schnapps, was there in the promotion of Culture and Tradition, to add colour and excitement to the event.
As it is customarily for the Brand, Eagle Schnapps paid a courtesy visit to the Community Leader the Olare – Aja, Ogieboro EF Esisi to receive blessings and prayers with the Schnapps ahead of the Grand Finale of the festival.

The Brand also continued in its tradition of organizing the Eagle Schnapps/Awankere Festival Draughts Competition, with the winners going away with mouth-watering prizes. Asides this, the best group that paraded at the Festival went away with a trophy and a cash sum courtesy Eagle SchnappsInline image
The parade by the various idimis/ groups, dances which mime sexual acts and the display by the masquerades in their large numbers among other things was a sight to behold for visitors and indigence alike
