There is strong kidnapping ring based in Akwa ibom state that is equally as notorious as the ones that held Abia state hostage for 2 years. I think the attention that was being given to Abia took the shine off this other group based in Akwa ibom. The only puzzle that remains unresolved in these kidnap incidents is whether these 2 groups of kidnappers are a syndicate, or carry out their criminal activities independently. This is one thing the security operatives need to unravel. I am having the feeling that the situation in Akwa ibom may end up escalating, with increasing number of kidnap cases going on in the state. This is the second i've heard of this week alone, not to talk of many others that would have gone unreported. Let's just hope that the authorities will not wait until the damage is done before taking steps to curb this socially deviant act. |

Abagworo: Do we have any concrete evidence to prove so. Kidnapping rings usually need camps and other things they use in carrying out their operations, how easier is it for strange persons to hold people hostage in organized camps in places in a state different from their own base? Let us always try to stay away from assumptions and avoid blunders like the recent one surrounding MEND where every criminal wants to commit crime in the name of MEND. |
