One of the key ministry that drives infrastructural development is the ministry of works. Combining this ministry with other top ministries (power and housing) is a key factor that determines the under performance of the Babatunde Fashola led ministry of works.

The recent list of ministerial nominee, with two nominees from 7 states is a proof that this non functional union of the 3 powerful ministries will lead to separation soon.

4 of these nominees are prospect for this key position.

Babatunde Fashola (Lagos): Former Lagos State Governor and current minister of Power, works and Housing. He was nominated for the ministerial appointment after the giant stride in infrastructural development achieved by his administration in Lagos. The scorecard for the ministry of works under him is below average, probably, due to the reason stated above. A lawyer by profession. An alumni of the prestigious University of Benin.

Mustapha Baba Shehuri (Borno): Former member of House of representatives representing Maiduguri Metropolitan constituency and current minister of Power, works and Housing. Prior to his nomination as minister, he has been a politician who rose from being a councillor to the National Assembly. He studied sociology and Anthropology.

Adegbite Olamilekan (ogun): Former commissioner for works and infrastructures under the Amosun led administration. A graduate of University of Lagos, An Architect with over 2 decades experience.
To his credit, he was a key player in the team (Modulor Group) that designed the 124m high Union Bank building on Marina street, Lagos. His administration construct several bridges and roads, infrastructural maintenance.

Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) : Former commissioner for works and infrastructures under Lagos State and former governor of Osun State. Some recorded that he was the brain behind Tinubus' success as governor. An alumni of The Polytechnic, Ibadan where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He is a Fellow of the Nigeria Society Of Engineers (NSE) and Nigerian Association of Technological Engineers (NATE).
