The Vice-Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba on Monday, 22 July 2019, commissioned projects built at record time by AE- FUNAI Parents Forum.

Addressing the university officials in his conference room before the tour to commission the projects, Prof. Nwajiuba announced that many projects under his watch were completed and therefore need to be commissioned and handed over for use. Projects so commissioned were Engineering Paint Plant, a bungalow at Staff Quarters, Security Operation Base and Resettlement buildings for host community member. Recall that the Vice-Chancellor recently inspected and commissioned Faculty of Humanities block, Zone A; new site of Centre for Educational Services, Nkwagu, and others.
The inauguration of Engineering Parents Forum and General Parents Forum at assumption of office by Prof. Nwajiuba as Vice-Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike in 2016, is paying great dividends. The former and new Chairman of the forum, Prof. Sam Igwe and Engr. Ogah and their officers took VC and members of staff round to the completed project sites for the commissioning starting with, Engineering Paint Plant for production of quality paints in commercial quantity to mainly provide employment and boost Internally Generated Revenue.

The entourage who rode in a new Innoson Motors built luxurious bus also visited and commissioned 11th bungalow of staff quarters built by the forum and two layers of fencing securing Good forest and students’ hostel. VC also commissioned AE-FUNAI Security Operational Base courtesy of Parents Forum. While commissioning the base, Prof. Nwajiuba noted that there was a dilapidated structure existing at the site which was renovated by the Forum to now house the security base after due negotiation with original. Referring to locals who are still occupying university land, Nwajiuba said, “We should systematically allow them to go. We shall neither fight nor force them”.

The Vice-Chancellor also commissioned two bungalow residential and settlement quarters built by the forum for Mr. Nwode Nwokorie at Ohankwu, Ndufu-Alike who once lived in AE-FUNAI, but, voluntarily sought for relocation. Mr. Nwokorie, who was overwhelmed with joy prayed the Vice-Chancellor will rise to greater heights in his career and demanded that he should not forget him. “You will move to greater glory and your children shall see good but don’t forget me as you advance higher”. The Vice-Chancellor acknowledged his request even as he requested for presentation of his ward for offer of employment in addition to the one already in the employ of the university. The man presented gifts to VC in accordance with the custom of Ikwo land for abundant blessing for the guests from the fountain of joy.

The last tour was to the perimeter fencing to Pole 18 that is massively going on from the first gate to opposite General Hospital, along College of Education Road, Ikwo.
