Management and staff of popular Nigerian television station, Channels TV, have expressed sadness over the death of Precious Owolabi, a Corps member who was serving in Abuja with the media outfit.

This was as staff of the TV station, Abuja, paid a condolence visit to management of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

Speaking on behalf of the Channels family when they were received by the Director-General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. Shaubu Ibrahim, the Chairman, Mr John Momoh said that the death of the journalist came as a “rude shock” to the entire media organization.

He commiserated with the NYSC DG, management and the immediate family of the deceased Corps member.

He described the 23-year-old Owolabi as a diligent young man who was very dedicated to his duties.

He equally stated that, as a mark of respect for the talented Theatre Artist, the television station assigned some senior officers to attend his burial, which took place in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Responding, the NYSC DG, Brig. Gen. Ibrahim thanked the TV station for identifying with the late Corps member’s family and the Scheme at the moment of grief.

He further narrated the efforts that were made by medical personnel at National Hospital, Abuja, to save the late Corps member’s life but to no avail.

Igbere TV reports that Precious Owolabi passed on after sustaining wounds from a gunshot while covering a protest by Shiites in Abuja on Monday, 22nd July 2019.
