Mississippi State University is a reputable public research university located in Starkville, Mississippi. After it was established in 1878, the institution admitted its first students in 1880. Ever since It has grown to become the largest tertiary institution in the state of Mississippi. Mississippi State University, MSU is on a mission to provide the best teaching and research services as indicated in its mission and Motto. Their annual research and development gulps a budget of about $240 million annually. MSU is at the moment the largest institution providing higher education in Mississippi with a population of more than 22,000 students. More than 3,000 of these students are enrolled in graduate courses while the rest are undergraduate students. About half of admitted students come from within the state. As an international institution, the university caters to 14% of distance learners. In addition, it has a gender ratio of 1:1, thus making it one of the most balanced institutions in terms of diversity.
