Jay crawled through the street. The stench of corpse and the sticky stream of blood made him groan.
Someone shouted in what sounded like Hausa. The glint of light from their brandished machetes was his cue. He ran off. The Igbo gang caught wind of the noise and shot him in the thigh but he escaped. Upon entering their hideout, he gave his sick daughter the teddy he almost died for. She smiled, reminding him of the sweet feeling of peace.
