It wasn't a start Arsenal where hoping to get at home as Lyon defeated Arsenal 2-1 to win the 2019 Emirates cup thanks to two goals from Moussa Dembele.

It was a very much predictable line up as Unai Emery made just 2 changes to the side that lost to Real Madrid last time out. Aubameyamg started in place of Nkethia while Mesut ozil had to start from the bench after the incident that happened during the week.

The game started smoothly with Arsenal taking charge of possession in the early stages, but it wasn't long before they had their first set back. Lacazette couldnt continue after requiring treatment on his ankle. He had to be forced off with Nelson coming on in his place.



It didn't hinder them, they were going for the win and in the 36th minute they did have a break, Aubameyang tapping in from a cross from Mkhitaryan.
Second half started just as the first ended, and before the Gunners could settle well into the half Lyon made 2 changes, Andersen and rafel came on for yanga-mbiwa and marcal. It didn't take long, they found the equalizer.



M.Dembele with a beautiful header from Depay's cross. pulled them level in the 66th minute.
Arsenal thought they had re-taken the lead when summer signing Gabriel Martinelli squeezed the ball home, but the goal was cancelled as he was jugded to be in an offside position. Lyon broke down at the other end and Dembele kept his cool to slot past Bernd Leno. 2-1, with less than 15 minutes left.

All effort by the gunners to find an equalizer was fruitless as Lyon cruised to be the 2019 Emirates cup champions.
The defeat was Arsenal's first in the preseason, having defeated Colorado Rapids, Bayern Munich, Fiorentina and a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid before succumbing on penalties.


Next up, they take on Angers on Wednesday, before playing Barcelona on Sunday in their final friendly, before starting their Premier League campaign at Newcastle.
