Canada Invites 49,000 Candidates In 7-months As Scores Drop Again by dailynaijamode: 9:51am On Jul 29, 2019
The latest draw by the Canadian Government has taken the total number of candidates invited to apply for the Canadian Permanent Residency to 49,000 in the first half of 2019.

According to the Canadian Immigration Newsletter obtained by Nairametrics, the Canadian Government invited 3,600 Express Entry candidates to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency in a draw which held on Wednesday, July 24. It was further revealed that the Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) cut-off of 459 in the latest draw was a point lower than the score (460) used in the previous draw that was held on June 26th.

The cut-off drops again: In the latest draw, the CRS score witnessed another downward trend as recorded in each of the last three draws.

Essentially, the drop in CRS score is attributed to the regular bi-weekly interval between draws maintained by the IRCC since the end of May.
Although the shorter interval between draws denotes fewer candidates had time to enter a profile in the Express Entry Pool.

Record high ITAs issued: With the country’s expanded admissions targets for the three Express Entry-managed programmes and its Provincial Nominee Programme, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has so far, issued a total 49,000 ITAs in 2019. This suggests that the IRCC is likely to surpass its ITA record of 89,800 issued in 2018.

Meanwhile, the past two weeks have seen Express Entry-linked provincial nominee streams in Ontario, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, and British Columbia invite candidates for applications for the provincial nomination.
Basically, the Express Entry pool consists of candidates for Canada’s three federal high skilled immigration programmes, which are: Federal skilled workers class, Federal skilled trade class, and Canadian experienced class.
The province with the biggest draw: Ontario’s first Tech-draw was the largest of 2019 draws through its Human Capital Priorities stream, issuing 1,623 invitations to Express Entry candidates with CRS scores between 439 and 459, and work experience in 6 tech-related occupations, amongst other prerequisites. It should be noted, however, that:

Ontario has the largest allocations with 6,900 nominations of the nine provinces and two territories participating in the PNP for 2019.
Ontario was the destination of 64% newcomers to Canada annually for new permanent residents admitted through the Express Entry system in 2018.
A big first half of 2019: Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programme was expected to hit the ground running in 2019 and it did not disappoint according to report.

Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programme (PNP) allows the participation of Canadian provinces and territories to nominate foreign workers and international graduates for the Canadian permanent residence through a network of streams tailored to their several labour market needs.

The PNP streams were in alignment with the Federal Express Entry system and were tremendously active in the first 6 months of 2019, inviting thousands of applications for a provincial nomination to immigration candidates with a profile in the Federal Government’s Express Entry pool.
About Express Entry: Express Entry is a selection system for Canadian immigration, designed to select skilled workers for immigration to Canada. It is completely an electronic process involving the country’s Federal Government, Provincial Governments, and Canadian employers.

Eligible candidates for these categories are entered into the Express Entry pool and assigned a ranking score based on factors such as age, education, work experience, and proficiency in English or French.

The highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.
