The lingering crisis in state- owned universities in the south eastern zone of the country may cost the Imo state governor, Ikedi Ohakim; his counterpart in Abia, Theodore Orji and some other governors in the zone their second tenure ambition .

This is because students and people from the states are poised to pay them back for the alleged neglect of the universities in their domain and allowing lecturers go on strike for over two months now.

Lecturers in state- owned universities in the South East had downed tools for the alleged inability of the governors of the zone to implement the agreement entered into between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government in 2009.

In sympathy with the closure of the universities in the South East and the alleged inability of the state governors of the zone to address the problems facing the education sector as regards implementation of the ASUU/FGN agreement and the decay in infrastructure, the National Executive Council of ASUU, during the week, called a three- day solidarity warning strike for all universities in the country.

Dr. Chike Ekeopara, Chairman of ASUU, University of Calabar branch, said the strike was essentially called to bring to the attention of Nigerians what is happening in some of the state universities.

“They have no reason whatsoever to tell us bloody lies. they should tell the public what they have been doing with their money, probably they are reserving such monies meant for education for their campaigns, since they hope to return to their offices for a second term,”he alleged.

our government are very bad well how can they even intervene when all their kids have been shippd to oversea uni or private uni so how did u expect them 2 do sumthn.only GOD can save us and i prayd 4 GOD's intervention

They wil neva go un punished and their children wil be doomed, for causin dis havoc.
