A ten years old lad, who gave his name as Abad and has never being to school was spotted in a gutter, gathering nails and iron fillings just to eke out a living in Abuja.

The lad who barely understood English language, revealed in Hausa that after every heavy downpour, flowing water carries the iron fillings through the gutters among the debris it washes away.

Abad, who cared less about contracting diseases from swimming in gutters for his unhygienic hustle, is just one out of many Almajiri lads who go through degrading and dehumanizing struggle to feed even in the midst of surplus of influential socialites.
