Presidency Accuses Atiku Of Seeking To Influence Election Tribunal by damilogogle(m): 10:01pm On Aug 03, 2019
Atiku Abubakar , the presidential candidate of the PDP, has received a strong message from the presidency

- A statement released by presidential aide, Femi Adesina, reminded Atiku that the outcome of the 2019 presidential election had been decided by Nigerians

- According to the presidency, some of the PDP candidate's recent comments on the poll were belated and would not change the result in his favor

- This is coming few days after the APC accused the PDP’s presidential candidate of projecting himself as a “shadow president”
The presidency has accused the presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar of trying to denigrates the country’s democracy, which he was part of building.

Presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, said the PDP candidate was trying to influence decision in the ongoing legal tussle over the result of the 2019 presidential poll by appealing to the emotions of Nigerians.

In a statement entitled Atiku’s unrelenting appeal to emotion: A gambit doom to fail, issued on Friday, August 2, Adesina said Atiku's efforts to appeal to the emotions of Nigerians, particularly members of the judiciary were pitiable.

The presidency made the accusation following
Atiku’s statements on developments such as the report that the Nigeria military secretly buried about 1,000 soldiers killed by Boko Haram in the northeast.

Adesina said: " First, it was laughable, now it gets progressively pitiable, to see and hear efforts by presidential candidate of the PDP in the last general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, appeal to the emotions of Nigerians, particularly members of the judiciary, perchance it would influence decision in the ongoing legal tussle over the result of the presidential poll. "

The presidency advised Atiku against trying to whip up "negative sentiments" as the judiciary would decide the case before it.
" We have told Alhaji Abubakar and his co-travelers that the judiciary would always come to conclusions, drawing from matters of the law placed before it, and not sentiments or so-called “pulse of the nation.”

"Therefore, in vain does anybody labour to devalue the government and its military, thinking it would fall into a grand plan to get into office through artifice. The campaigns and elections for 2019 are long over. The country has moved on. And those who know it actually know it ," he added.

Atiku and his party, the PDP, are currently at the election petition tribunal challenging the declaration of President Muhammau Buhari as winner of the 2019 presidential election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) had earlier told Atiku that he has since lost the 2019 presidential election and should, therefore, wake to the realities on ground.
