Fashola actually built that Terminal not Ambode. Ambode literally did nothing for Ikorodu. I don't know where OP got his facts from.

Its not about building it, getting it functional that matters and I think thats what Ambode did.

And Ikorodu is just like every other part of Lagos nothing was done for. That's no news!

Thanks. To be honest to avoid Lagos traffic and get some time back (time>>money) for an extra couple hundred naira, I think it's worth it.

chukslawrence:

Ebute, Ikorodu(Ikorodu west). Routes... Ebute ero, Apapa, Lekki, VI(25-30 mins).
Btw, it’s 700N, and not 500N.

If lagos state government can float enough ferries there, BRT will experience less crowd and vehicles will be less on the road

Madam, check your facts well, the terminal was called Ipakodo Ferry Terminal but was abandoned, the Ambode-led administration re-constructed it and did some minor works to make it decent and modern... The write-up said re-constructed.

You can read this post dated 19th March 2018...

https://www.autoreportng.com/2018/03/ikorodu-ferry-terminal-commences-pilot.html

This is not a sponsored post but get the facts right.

Recheck your facts.

Perhaps you were referring to the one at Ilaje,Bariga? The one near Dangote industry,Ipakodo-Ebute, Ikorodu is 100% Fashola's project.

You want good service, good boats, more boats

But you want it at half price or almost free.

You people will simply never get it. These things aren't underpriced or free in places where they work.

TheAutoReporter:
It was reported in the news that the Ikorodu - Mile 12 Road was on total lockdown due to the road construction on this axis. Yesterday was worse for worshippers as they are stuck up in traffic for hours.

So as not to see a repeat of what happened yesterday, many thought if Sunday can be this hellish despite few vehicular movements, what will happen on a working day? Many have therefore stormed the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal. The terminal was re-constructed under the Ambode-led administration but Lagosians have refused to use it despite the trip from Ikorodu to Island takes on 30mins, unlike the road that takes 2-3hours all thanks to 3rd Mainland Bridge, traffic among others.

Early today, the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal was filled to the brim as people seem to be slowly embracing the water transportation in Lagos. We hope LASWA will step up their game in terms of safety and providing new, fast and affordable boats. Ikorodu to Lagos Island costs 700 naira which we believe is too expensive, this is calling on the Lagos State Government to look into this and half the price if they want people to be using this service. 350-400 naira won't be a bad idea as it takes only 25mins to get to their location.

These are pictures from the terminal early this morning as obtained by AutoReportNG

There are lots of mix up in the submission of d OP,....
1, d terminal isn’t Ambode’s project, it has been there since Fashola days, great edifice.
2, by ferry, d journey from ebute-Ikorodu to ebute-ero is on average of 21 to 22 minutes.
3, d population here is not much going by d usual crowd that using d route until recent time.
4, I will advise d op to consider d overhead cost of running d business and even maintenance before coming with a price reduction argument.

Thank you.

Have you talked to your state assembly honourable to sponsor a Bill allowing more private investors to bring the prices down as happened in the mobile telecommunications sector?
Oga, please study the telecoms sector carefully. Who said private investors cannot invest in water transportation? They have been given the greenlight to do so, since the days of Fashola in Lagos! shocked

Do you have any idea what is holding back more private investors to do the business and bring down the price

It is likely to be funding, because these ferries do not come cheap. sad

Another thing holding them back is that our waterways need to be cleared of wrecks, water hyacinth and other kind of debris that impede water transport. The govt agencies need to do this, in order to make it safe for the water transport companies. undecided

Along the Marina to Apapa axis, there are 3 different private ferries owned by private operators, that ply that route. sad

Safety of passengers is important, the regulatory agencies should ensure the ferries and boats are in good working condition, the operators are competent and ready to listen and heed to advice and caution, no over-crowding and functioning life jackets are available for all passengers.
