Protesters in Hong Kong have used slingshots to hurl rocks and thrown bricks at a police station in the city during another day of demonstrations.

Officers also fired multiple rounds of tear gas to disperse hundreds of anti-government protesters today and Beijing said it would not let the situation persist.

People also used bricks to launch at the Tseung Kwan O Police Station this afternoon. Protesters are also gearing up for a a strike aimed at bringing the city to a halt tomorrow.

The Chinese-controlled city has been rocked by months of protests against a proposed bill to allow people to be extradited to stand trial in mainland China.

Demonstrators, mostly students dressed in black, gathered outside the government headquarters.

More than 1,000 protesters blocked Hong Kong police headquarters into the night Friday, while others took over major streets as the tumult over the city's future showed no signs of abating.

The protest comes after the government refused to meet the demands of demonstrators who have marched in their millions to oppose a bill that would allow extraditions to the Chinese mainland

Many unfurled umbrellas to protect themselves from the sun, and first-aid volunteers sprayed water on others to cool down.

Protesters tape up a banner with the words 'Never give in' as they surround the police headquarters in Hong Kong today.

The call for Friday's protest was made by the city's student unions, as well as informal organisers over social media.

This people that know their value and pressure their government to do good for the good of their people

Nigeria can never be like this because of tribalism and religious bigotry especially on the part of the northerners. The northerners are the number one problem of this country. Their people are mostly archaic and unprogressives. They have been mentally caged by their elites and it will take years for them to wise up.

If we must progress there's a need for restructuring or disintegration. Let north live the way they want and grow in their own pace. Their population and their leaders is affecting all of us

A biafran country or odudwa country has what it takes to protest against its government. But collectively as Nigerians its just a waste of time

You dare not try the least of this protest in Nigeria before they charge you for treason. See them defacing their legislature building. Can't really fathom what can unite us like this in terms of protest without tribe agitation.
