Five students of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Gubi have died after a metal pedestrian bridge linking a hostel and a lecture hall collapsed after a heavy down pour last night!

The victims of this sad event were on their way back to the hostel when the bridge collapsed with them on it. However, students of the institution are currently protesting and blaming the incident as negligence on the side of the school management.

See how rickety the bridge looks, one would wonder how such a bridge got to be a major link in a federal institution. Our govt and their nonchalant attitude towards education in this country is nauseating or could it be from the school's management?

I would have called for a thorough probe but to what end when the results of other investigations are lying fallowed in the office of the various agencies in charge of taking disciplinary action against negligence (if we even have something as such).
