The Secretary - General of the Arewa Consultative Forum , Mr Anthony Sani , on Tuesday , knocked Afenifere , Ohanaeze Ndigbo , PANDEF and the Middle Belt Forum , for boycotting the Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar ’ s peace summit .
The summit was called to seek solutions to the nation’ s security challenges .
The regional bodies had boycotted the security summit , saying that it would not be part of it because the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria was invited to the meeting .
The regional leaders had stated this in a statement co - signed by Chief Edwin Clark ( PANDEF ); Chief Ayo Adebanjo (Afenifere ); Chief Nnia Nwodo ( Ohanaeze ); and Dr Bitrus Pogu (MBF ) in Abuja .
But the ACF chieftain argued that rather than finding solutions to the country’ s security challenges , the groups were being driven by pride.
This , he said , was because the convener , Abdulsalami , had made it clear that “the roundtable was his own contributions to the search for how best the nation could put an end to the insecurity posed . ”
Sani , in an exclusive interview with
The PUNCH , noted that given the importance of the roundtable , one expected that the groups would seize the opportunity to make contributions toward overcoming the insecurity across the country.
He said , “ When we read that a medley of groups under the auspices of the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum refused to participate in the roundtable we were surprised .

“ But many of us felt the groups would have seize the opportunity and make some contributions toward overcoming the insecurity that transcends states and geopolitical groups . ”
According to him , the solution to the nation’ s insecurity does not lie with the multiplication of security agencies but sufficient number of trained and equipped police personnel to police the country.
