Despite almost losing their lives, Omolewa still decided to visit the Shoprite branch at Dugbe. Some policemen chased after the shooters while some secured Omolewa’s vehicle. Two of the assailants whose car had tumbled were still alive and were arrested.

Kolapo and Omolewa took a taxi to Dugbe. Kolapo walked behind her as they entered the shopping mall. They went straight to the Shoprite section. Kolapo’s eyes expertly scanned the faces of the many people around, looking for anyone who seemed hostile.

Kolapo helped with the shopping cart, pushing it after her, and while doing that, he was also checking over his shoulders. Omolewa bought so many things for the celebrant and for him too despite his protestations.

Three men appeared in front of them suddenly and Kolapo could see that they were there for them. How did they find us so fast, he thought. The men ran towards them and he pulled Omolewa behind him and pushed the shopping cart at them. As the men tumbled over the cart, Kolapo pulled Omolewa with him and they began to run. Past shelves of goodies, past many people shopping and those snapping pictures.

Three more men showed up in front of them. Kolapo picked two tins of Bournvita and launched it at the men. Two dodged but the third was too slow and the tins smacked his forehead. He went down screaming. Kolapo jumped up, turned in the air and smashed a kick to the side of one assailants’ head. The fellow crashed into the shelf full of goodies, scattering everything. Omolewa pushed the last man against a very fat man. The fat man easily picked the man up in one hand and launched him towards a shelf full of wines.

Kolapo and Omolewa ran towards the entrance as security operatives appeared. Apparently, the CCTV cameras were not for decoration. They pushed past the throng of people and ran outside. A man on a motorcycle saw them and he brought out a submachine gun.

Instead of running in the other direction, Kolapo ran towards the gunman and dived towards him. Both men tumbled over the bike and as they landed, Kolapo pummeled his face with his fists.

“Can you ride a motorcycle?” he asked Omolewa. She nodded.

She removed the man’s helmet and put it on hers. Kolapo picked up the gun and sat at the back. She started the bike and rode away. Soon, two cars followed them. They began to shoot. Kolapo returned measured fire, not wanting to waste the bullets. People dispersed once again.

The Iyaganku police station was close by and Omolewa rode towards the place. Two more cars appeared in front of them. Kolapo stood up on the back seat of the speeding bike and began to shoot at the drivers of the two cars. The drivers lost the wheel and collided. Omolewa expertly dodged the two cars and the cars collided with the two cards behind them.

The policemen at the Iyaganku Police Station rushed out and began to fire at the assailants. Soon, the assailants were overpowered and Kolapo and Omolewa were saved once again.

Those who were alive among the assailants confessed the name of the man who had given out the contract. The other man who was vying for the post of the House of Assembly was arrested and Omolewa’s father won the election.
Kolapo and Omolewa began to date…
