Once you start buying properties from any property seller, kindly deem it fit to make a Will immediately. Making Wills is neither a death wish nor indication as several people assume, but an arrangement to avoid further disputes and uncertainty. Several property owners have acquired properties out of confidentiality, when no one knows about it.

A man called me to relate how his landlord dies leaving several properties in Abuja, Lagos, Ogun and Osun States, including over 50M naira in bank without a Will. Your guess is as good as mine on Letter of Administration. Once a person dies without a Will, his survivors are to apply for Letter of Administration in the court which may be quite tasking. So making a Will is cheaper.

You're capable of making a Will once you attain 18 years (in Lagos) and 21 years (in other states). Such a person must be of mentally sound.

Kindly note, that a Will must be in writing and should be attested to by minimum of one witness. The effect of being a witness is that such witness or his/her spouse cannot be a beneficiary in the Wills, though with some certain exceptions. A Will can be amended by the maker before his death.
