Stakeholders in the textile industry has applauded president Bhari for his move to create Jobs, in his second term in office, starting with textile industry.

They describe the adminstration’s policy in favour of reviving the Comato textile industry as a welcome idea. This according to them, will bring back the sector’s lost glory as the second higher employer of labour after the government.

During a visit by the representative of the National Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers(NUTGTW), led by its president, John Adaji at presidential villa, Abuja, recently. President Buhari said his priority in his second term in office is to create Jobs for the unemployed teeming Nigerians.

Stakeholders in the community includingvthe youths received the cheery news, and expressed hope that the textile industry will not only create million of jobs, but also earn the nation huge foreign exchange, while also creating a great increase effect on the other sector of the economy.

Some of them who spoke with newsmen recalled that the closure of the textile industries across the country opened doors for increase in crime rate such as kidnapping, robberies, rustling and drug abuse, to mention just a few, adding that worst hit owing to its large population.

They recalled that in the early 1900s the textile industry was the largerst employer of labour, follow by Agricutrial and the Oil and Gas sector. The fact according to them was reaffirmed by the delegates of NUTGTW, which is the major and critical stakeholder in the industry.

One of the stakeholders who pleaded anonymity, stated that Buhari’s decision to revive the textile industry is to create more jobs in addition to other job polices created by his administration.

He listed some ofcthem to include restriction of importation in other to give small and medium scale businesses reliable and affordable capital incentives, and also to bosst the consumption of made in Nigeria products.

He also said that the president had directed security agencies, military, para-military, National Youth Service Corps and other uniform agencies who normally import materials to source material locally.
