Zimbabwean born Chapungu Vimbai has emerged the first black woman to be crowned Miss London, after clinging on to the 2019 title, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV gathered that the 24-year-old Vimbai recently took part in the 2019 Miss England, which held in Newcastle.

She qualified as one of the 50 finalists out of other 20,000 women that entered this year’s competition.

A Masters student at a top university in London, Vimbai says she has a passion for learning about the world and the people in it.

She hopes to use her platform to raise awareness about development issues and hopes to empower communities.
