Who Will Save Our Home ? By Chioma Ikebuaku by IzunnaOkafor(m): 12:07am On Aug 10, 2019
I heard the cries of a wailing woman
Distressed and bleeds on
She sobs for her children
For her children deserted her to sink
I heard the cries of an afflicted mother
Who soberly chants a tragic song

Save our home she cries
For we are one
United with blood
And sweat of the old

For she seeks for leaders
But found killers
In the form of rulers
Who ruled us out of our land
Squandered our resources
And let us sob in want

When we heard their voices
Clamouring to our heart
We listened to their pitiful request
Of empty promises

We hoped for a change
But are ever hooked in chains
They wore masks
As angels they presented themselves
And we hacknyed to their cries

And so they won
And we lost

She was once nations pride
Giant of Africa
Nature's beauty call
Embellished with human and natural resources
She never lacked

Yet she sobs for want
Yearns for food and security
Clamours for peace

For the sought after her life
With resentful grit
She bleeds
Save our home she cries

She has turned to mockery
Her arms bleeds for unity
She struggles for love
Yet none she found
Her works of thousand years were lost
Destroyed in a twinkle
Save our home she cries

She is the cradle of weakenings
Enriched with slothful criminals
Filled with rotten golds
Dried of paramount minerals

She is now a zone of war
Harvest of green blood
Place where morals are lost
Abode of innocent criminals
Now, a tournament of corruption
Who will save our home?

Her children dreadful of insecurity
In want of food and gold
Beggars of tomorrow
Her leaders have dealt with her
With their empty promises

Who will save our motherland?
Who will redeem our lost pride?
Who will restore our peace?
Who will save our home?
