A veteran cop from Arizona has been fired after he admitted to slapping a suspected shoplifter across the face. Officer Tim Baiardi, who worked with the Phoenix Police Department for 18 years, had his contract terminated on Thursday. On July 24, Baiardi pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct over the slapping incident, which was recorded on surveillance camera. Prosecutors originally charged him with felony aggravated assault, before it was eventually downgraded. After Moran was in handcuffs, Baiardi walked him into the store's loss prevention room where a surveillance camera was recording. Baiardi can be seen on video slapping Moran forcefully across the left side of the face. Moran's bleary mugshot reveals bloody cuts and bruises on his face. Moran pleaded guilty to the shoplifting offence on May 10 of this year. 1 Like
