Revolution Now: Sowore Drags DSS To Court Over “illegal” Detention by CGMedia: 7:24am On Aug 10
Convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, has dragged the Federal Government and the Department of State Services (DSS) before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the activist, on Friday, applied to the Federal High Court to set aside its previous order permitting the DSS to detain him for 45 days.

Sowore, publisher of SaharaReporters, through his lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), contended, among others in the 19-ground application sighted by Igbere TV, that the order issued by the court breached his constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights.

The former presidential candidate insisted that the order amounted to “legalising the illegality” of his detention for about four days prior to the issuance of the court order on Thursday.

Filed along with his application was an affidavit of urgency seeking an urgent hearing of the suit on the grounds that it “is one of fundamental importance that affects salient fundamental rights of the applicant herein.”

Igbere TV recalls that operatives of the DSS, on August 3, arrested Sowore over his call for revolution ahead of the #RevolutionNow protests which held in some parts of the country on Monday.

Ruling on an ex parte application by the security agency to detain Sowore for 90 days to investigate him for treason-related allegations, the judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, on Thursday granted the agency permission to hold the activist for 45 days.

According to the judge, the 45-day period, starting from Thursday, lapses on September 21, the date he also fixed for the next hearing of the case.

He, however, added that the order of detention for 45 days was subject to renewal for further days upon an application by the security agency, in the event that its investigation could not be concluded within the first 45 days.

Buhari is so intolerant. One would wonder if it is not this same man that partook in different mass protest against GEJ and nothing happen to him or any of his supporters.
We cannot forget in a hurry the one he said that ''monkey and baboon will be soak in blood'' yet some people are supporting him because they are eating from the government.
My happiness in all this is that one day some of them will be in opposition and they will protest against the leadership and KARMA will be serve very hot on them.

Sowore, don't let this useless people waste your precious life, save it for what's worth the use. You are political to your people. No one will come out to save you. When you are out, return back to u.s and think only about the way out. Oodua.

Foolish people! I wonder what they are investigating.

The Fulani herdsmen with dangerous weapon can move at will, but someone without anything caught on him is restrained.

Buhari is just afraid of his own shadow.

The guy below me is in sifia pains.

Sowore, ask yourself where is Dansuki who is more popular than you, your friend KANU should have advised you better. It's wise to remain silent at this critical time so that when(if) you are freed you can travel abroad and fight using Twitter/FB but this one that you're dragging with government is more like suicide mission o grin

Draging DSS to court!?

He must be joking cos this is just like dragging Buhari to court.
Protesting against our evil leaders is good but terming Ur protest #REVOLUTION is what I don't understand because if you really understand what the term #Revolution, you will get to understand that no democratic elected government will sit down and watch you upsurb it's govt.
The only chance u have to remove a govt is through the ballot box or due process of impeachment.

I Rest my case.....Good luck in the Court though.

He had better filed it on time else, after the 45 days must have elapsed, they would just tell you that they need extra 45 days and by then, the guy will just rotten over there.

Re: Revolution Now: Sowore Drags DSS To Court Over “illegal” Detention by Akposkool(m): 11:38am On Aug 10
A Revolution that has Sowore as its convener will always fail. The man extorted millions all in the name of contesting election. A revolution where a few states partake can't stand. The North showed no interest, The East can't work with the west cus they want secession and the West don't trust themselves.
For a Revolution to work there must be adequate planning and preparation plus people must be willing to die for the course but not in Nigeria.
For Nelson Mandela to win apartheid in South Africa it took a lot of pain and suffering and people died for the course. But naija we too like life and we always hide in the crowd when it's time to step up. Enjoy Buhari will he lasts. Revolution failed before it started

What you have failed to realise is that most members of the main opposition party are somehow in support of Buhari on this..Why? is because Revolution as canvassed. by Sowore is also not in their interest..
