People who complain about Arabic language on our currency are either ignorant or ethno-religiously bigoted. The Hausa people have been writing with Arabic long before the coming of the colonial masters so it's a part of their culture and identity.

If any other tribe had a writing system it would also have been included in the currency.

However, it might interest you to know that the modern Arabic numbering system was gotten from the Indians. There's a weak debate among scholars of Arabic language whether they should return to their traditional numbering system - which is now used by the English - or stick with their borrowed Indian numbering system.

That said, what was borrowed is only the symbols not the pronunciation of the words.
