According to William Shakespeare "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet". Therefore, it makes no difference changing the name when the system is still as ineffective. 1 Like |

Good move. Its new name serves its purpose, which is to punish and ‘correct’ offenders. Thereby, giving them an opportunity to reflect on their wrong acts. |

The main question should be, Is our prisons correctional facilities or hellfire? |
Re: Nigerian Prisons Service Changes Name To Nigerian Correctional Service by Symphony007: 7:56pm On Aug 14, 2019 |
The Nigerian government will not stop fooling themselves. Change the name all you want but Nigerian prisons can never be called correctional facilities, because the squalid conditions don't correct or rehabilitate criminals to be better society people upon return. Instead, the conditions make them hardened and worse upon release than they came in. That below is what a correctional facility is.. 1 Like

damiloladuke: We are indeed a nation obsessed with hypocritical semantics. What has changed in the modus operandi of the prisons to warrant this pretentious change of name? Hypocrites!!! Same way the endemically and fantastically corrupt police force is engaged in media rebranding that bears no semblance with their true old corrupt selves! ( police is now your friend, bail is now free, bribes now obsolete, bla, bla, blah! ) |

Symphony007:I really wish I could sit down with youth and we formulate a mini society/estate, where we handle everything A~Z. From construction, to education, to morals to industry, production... Economy... Everything. Then use that model to formulate the rest of Nigeria. - Many of our development problems are affected by tradition. |

l[/quote] This unhealthy obsession we have for everything US is just so disturbing. From our singers, to our youths in general, to our politicians. We have a fatal breakdown of the ability or desire to be creative, original, and visionary. The job of these idiots in Abuja is to sit at home doing nothing to solve the crucial problems squeezing the soul out of Naija, but just look for any cultural mainstay of America that tickles their fancy and then copy it. When US named the systems Corrections facilities, it came after sweeping changes where made practiced and institutionalized. It's not by empty name tagging. Where are the changes in the prisons? Where are the facilities on ground? When were personnel rigorously trained? Where are the educators for this project? They just copy reform tenets from US and start pretending to be original. Empty dunces. God will judge you people. |
