In 2008, the raw food diet came into the spotlight, in the Netherlands.

It was often seen that a mother only gave her ten-old year old son raw food. There has been a lot of fuss about this, but is the raw food diet as bad for you as it is claimed?

The first known article about the raw food diet is from Dr. Benner, a Swiss doctor. Dr. Benner felt by eating plants, life energy from the sun was being passed on into the body system. For the raw food diet, the English / Dutch term Raw Food diet is also often used. It is also said that adherents of this diet practice Raw Foodism.

Today, the raw food diet no longer consists of only plants. Seeds and nuts are also a big part of this type of diet. Although many people would not say it at first sight, it is still possible to vary considerably with raw food. Many recipes about this can be found on the internet via specialized sites.


Health Benefits of the Raw Food Diet

What is important for every diet, including the raw food diet, is this - eating a varied diet. Much can be varied by different seeds and nuts, but some vitamins and minerals must also be supplemented by supplements.

A substance that you will miss in the diet is vitamin b12. Vitamin b12 can be found in bountiful in meat. This is hardly eaten with the diet – since one will be going raw.
